Living in Chilliwack BC
Chilliwack is an Inexpensive Place to Live
Having the lowest score is actually good for once. For the second year in a row, Chilliwack was rated number one with a cost of living composite index of 81.8. This is 18% below the North American average of the 314 communities surveyed.
The ranking, done by the ACCRA (American Chamber of Commerce Research Association), measures differences between areas in the cost of consumer goods and services, excluding taxes and non-consumer expenditures, scoring a city's affordability on a scale of 100; an index higher than 100 translates into higher than average prices. The study is based on more then 60 items in six separate components including grocery items, housing, utilities, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods and services, for which prices are compiled quarterly by the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation.
